Top manufacturer of CBD molecular distillation machine was looking a for gearmotor that provided high performance control of liquid flow and agitation speed in their newest distillation system.

Working with an authorized Bodine distributor and our applications group, the manufacturer incorporated variable-speed AC inverter-duty gearmotors, together with inverter drives (VFDs) and programmable logic controller-based controls. These elements would drive the system pumps as well as its agitator, providing a smooth and reliable operation.

Replacing Brushed DC Motors

Previous generations of such equipment utilized competitor furnished brushed DC motors and their control. The move to Bodine’s AC inverter-duty gearmotors gave them a number of immediate benefits:

• Reduced maintenance by eliminating brushes and commutators
• Minimized downtime due to fewer service intervals
• Quieter operation, improving the work environment around the distillation system

The application incorporated Bodine’s popular 42R-FX AC inverter-duty gearmotors, known for years for its reliable performance in demanding process applications.

Expanded Options Now Available

Since then, Bodine has developed its product line even further to handle the most challenging environments. New models include:

• Class I/Div 2 AC inverter-duty and fixed-speed (PSC) 34R-FX – gearmotors
• Class I/Div 1 “explosion proof” AC inverter-duty 34R-FX gearmotors
• Low-voltage BLDC 34R-FX gearmotors and 34R6BX motors

These additions offer cannabis processing and general industry manufacturers safer, more efficient, maintenance-free drives for key equipment.
